Job Description:
Summary: The applicant must possess the ability to present themselves in a clean and professional manner with a positive disposition to our customers while effectively troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing general plumbing items in either a commercial or residential application. The applicant will have working knowledge of current local plumbing codes and manufacturing procedures while operating in a safe, hazard-free environment. The applicant will be comfortable working alone or a team environment. General Duties and Responsibilities - (included, but are not limited to): • Inspect structures to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe. • Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors. • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools. • Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine. • Assemble and install valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic. • Join pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints, fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking. • Install plumbing fixtures. • Will be required to work independently and be able to keep from one (1) to three (3) apprentices productive. • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose issues and perform repairs to general residential and commercial plumbing systems, fixtures and waste systems. • Experience with repair and replacement of residential and commercial fixtures, water and wastewater piping. • Applicable knowledge of sewer cleaning machines, drain cables, sewer jetting machines and camera inspection equipment. • General working knowledge of residential and commercial storage tank type and tankless water heaters. • Ability to communicate with customers and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner. • Ability to work independently, with other plumbing technicians or helper/trainees in a team-oriented environment during the course of the day. • General knowledge of and the ability to use a tablet and/or cell phone for the purpose of invoice reconciliation, parts ordering, photography of repairs made, etc. • Ability to work nights/weekends in a rotational basis for emergency services • Skills preferred but not required Gas Certification Backflow Certification Boiler Certification Excavation/ trenching equipment skills Education - Experience - Skills: • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, and five years related experience and/or training is required. • 4 to 6 years’ plumbing experience preferred Physical Demands and Working Conditions: The physical activities described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
