Job Description:
RWD Consulting is seeking a full-time Plumber / General Maintenance Worker, to work on site at the Pittsburgh Research Center in Pittsburgh, PA (South Park area). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance worker / plumber to apply their knowledge at this facility. This position has competitive pay and benefits. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Possess the knowledge and ability to independently: Install and perform maintenance on piping systems for air, natural and industrial gases, steam and condensate return, water, storm and sanitary sewer lines. Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, lavatories, water closets, urinals, gas and electric water heaters, water coolers, and pumps. Fabricate piping systems using pipe manufactured from steel, copper, ABS and PVC plastic, poly gas service, terra cotta and cast iron soil pipe. Plan and layout work and select proper materials. Read and interpret plans and specifications. Additional skills as a General Maintenance Worker include: Carpenters: Minor repairs such as adjusting doors and windows, carpet repairs, replacing door knobs and locks and window locks. Painters: Patching holes in walls (interior and exterior). Touching up spots. Inside and outside puttying, caulking, scraping and sanding. Electrician: Minor electrical repair such as replacing light bulbs, switches, switch covers, outlets, outlet covers, dishwashers, hot water heater elements, and door bells. Refrigeration/ A.C. Mechanic: Changing and cleaning air conditioning filters. Auto Mechanics: Oil changes, tire changes, pumping gas, road calls-jumping batteries, delivering gas, towing to Mechanics Shop, pick-up parts from warehouse. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A proven history in plumbing/pipefitting skills where the ability to perform the major responsibilities has been demonstrated. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of and ability to work with hand/power tools. Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding. Registration and license from Allegheny county at Journeyman or Master plumber level. (must be able to obtain county license within 45 days of hire) No physical restrictions that would inhibit individual from lifting up to 75 lbs. without assistance of others. Posses and maintain a valid state driver’s license. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in backflow prevention (assembly, testing and repair).
