Job Title: Plumbing Service Field Technician FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Service EEO Job Code: Full Time Reports To: Service Supervisors/Service Manager Prepared Date: 08/06/2016 SUMMARY Responsible for the repair/retrofit/replacement/Maintenance of environment Plumbing systems, utilizing knowledge of Journey level Commercial Plumbing and pipe systems to component level. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following for the experienced Plumbing Field Service Technician. Entry level Plumbing Technicians will meet all the functions and responsibilities of the experienced Plumbing Field Technician with exceptions of the full technical skill requirement. A 24-month progressive ramp up, learning and experience timeline will be in effect. Other functions may be assigned. • Evaluates area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and assists in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training. • Exceeds customers’ expectations, must be able to build client confidence in our company. • Maintains a great attitude, meet and greet external, internal customers and peers with a smile. • Ability to calmly deal with difficult people. • Good hygiene and cleanliness, maintain compliance with the company’s uniform policy • Communicate with dispatch after every call. • Assists coordinators in maximizing productivity in scheduling and organizing. • Ensures the quality of his work by reviewing his work, making sure it’s done right the first time. • Asks for help when unsure in any situation technical, safety or otherwise. • Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact. • Serves customers by serving as a resource in answering inquires and responding to special requests. • Maintains supplies and equipment by conducting equipment inventories. • Maintains company tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear, recommends repair or replacement. • Maintains vehicles by scheduling and completing repair and maintenance services, keeping truck clean and organized. • Works with Project Managers to prepare for on-site installations and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work as necessary. • Supports process compliance by completing digital and non-digital paperwork prior to leaving the jobsite. • Consistently recommends predictive and preventative repairs to the customers and collects all data for estimates or quotes prior to leaving the jobsite. • Consolidates reference information by collecting, organizing and assembling technical data. • Identifies, analyzes, repairs and maintains equipment at customer's location. • Uses a variety of hand tools and reads schematics or engineering specifications. • Uses power tools and computers. • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as needed and rotational on call duty. • Regular local travel requirements with some overnight travel. LIMITED SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • Supports lower level HVAC Field Technicians by providing technical advice and offering guidance, mentoring and coaching. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a applicable Journey level State License, five (5) years HVAC experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of various Plumbing products, systems, LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, and equipment specifications. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, and other service personnel. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, ratio’s percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
