Job Description:
• Perform plumbing installations and replacements of university water systems, waste systems, steam lines and refrigerant lines • Renovate and modify existing plumbing systems to maintain in good working order • Install new lines and valves as required by equipment needed • Connect new equipment to meet specified needs of customers • Troubleshoot and repair problems with plumbing systems • Analyze and develop plumbing layout of installations • Determine and purchase supplies necessary for installations and repairs • Operate underground locating equipment • Ensure compliance of construction to local plumbing codes • Make recommendations for equipment purchases • Perform multi-craft maintenance and other tasks as required by department workloads and priorities • Assist with campus utilities shutdown Qualifications Required: • High school diploma or equivalent • Five years experience in general plumbing • Proficient in the installation of water lines, waste lines, steam lines, refrigerant lines, fixtures, and valves • Familiarity with local plumbing codes, flow capacities, and restrictive flow characteristics of pipes and fittings • Plumber license required • Skills in soldering copper fittings • Must have a valid driver's license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy • Must be able to lift and carry 25 to 50 pounds frequently; up to 60 pounds occasionally along with occasional pushing and pulling Preferred: • Commercial plumbing experience SALARY COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE Apply at: www.ipfw.jobs/jobs
